How do we keep the water safe?

At Aquanat, water hygiene is something we take very seriously. Babies, parents, our team, and therapy clients all deserve the highest level of care, so we’ve always gone above and beyond to keep our pool environment sparkling clean, safe, and soothing.

Like most pools, we use chlorine as a key part of our sanitising system, under the regulations of the Health Department. Chlorine works by neutralising harmful bacteria and viruses in the water—and when carefully monitored and used in the correct amounts, it’s a highly effective and widely trusted method.

That familiar “chlorine smell” isn’t actually caused by chlorine itself, but by chloramines—by-products that form when chlorine reacts with substances like bodily fluids, shampoos, lotions, and other organic matter. It’s these chloramines that can lead to strong odours, irritation, and discomfort.

That’s where UV filtration makes a big difference—it helps us further reduce chloramines, leading to fresher air, clearer water, and an even more comfortable experience for everyone in the pool.
