Are You Our Next Swim Teacher? Join the Aquanat Team in Perth!

We're hiring an experienced Baby & Toddler Swimming Instructor in Alfred Cove, Perth! đź’™
Are you a passionate swim teacher who loves working with babies and young children? Do you believe teaching swimming is about much more than following lesson plans or getting children from one side of the pool to the other?
If you're looking for swimming instructor jobs in Perth and would love to work in a small, supportive swim school where your teaching makes a real difference, we'd love to meet you!
Aquanat Swim School is looking for an experienced Baby & Toddler Swimming Instructor to join our family-run team in Alfred Cove.
We're offering above-award pay, consistent casual teaching days during school terms and the opportunity to work in a beautifully warm indoor pool, where quality teaching, connection and individual attention are at the heart of everything we do.
Teaching Baby and Toddler Swimming Lessons at Aquanat
At Aquanat, we believe children learn best when they feel safe, respected and confident in the water.
Established in 2001, our Perth swim school has spent many years developing a thoughtful, child-centred approach to baby and toddler swimming lessons.
Our teaching focuses on developing breath control, buoyancy, body awareness, water safety skills and a genuine enjoyment of being in the water.
But we also recognise that every child is different.
Some babies and toddlers are adventurous and eager to explore, while others need more time to observe, build trust and develop confidence.
Rather than expecting every child to progress at the same pace, we adapt our swimming lessons to suit each child's developmental stage, temperament and readiness.
We also place great importance on the relationship between parents and their children. In our parent-and-child swimming classes, we're not just teaching little swimmers — we're helping parents understand and support their children's learning in the water.
For us, being a great baby swimming instructor means understanding the child in front of you, not simply following a sequence of activities.
What Makes Working at Our Perth Swim School Special?
Aquanat operates from a private, indoor hydrotherapy pool in Alfred Cove, conveniently located for families from Melville, Attadale, Applecross, Booragoon, Myaree, Fremantle and surrounding Perth suburbs.
Our pool is maintained at a comfortable 34–35°C, creating a warm and welcoming environment for babies, toddlers, parents and teachers alike.
We deliberately keep our swimming classes small, with only one class in the pool at a time.
This allows our instructors to focus on each swimmer, develop meaningful relationships with families and create a calm, personal learning environment.
What we offer our swimming instructors:
Above-award pay for the right person.
Small group swimming lessons with individual attention.
A warm indoor hydrotherapy pool maintained at 34–35°C.
A welcoming, family-run workplace with a small, supportive team.
Consistent teaching days during school terms, with school holiday breaks.
Training and mentoring in the Aquanat teaching approach.
The opportunity to build lasting relationships with children and families.
We value kindness, professionalism, curiosity, flexibility, reliability and good communication. We also believe teaching should be enjoyable, and we love working with instructors who bring warmth, creativity and a playful spirit to their lessons.
What We're Looking for in a Baby & Toddler Swimming Instructor
We're looking for someone with substantial experience teaching babies, toddlers and young children, but qualifications and experience are only part of what matters to us.
Our ideal swimming instructor is someone who:
Holds recognised swimming instructor qualifications and has substantial experience teaching babies, toddlers and their parents.
Is calm, patient, observant and comfortable supporting children with different needs and temperaments.
Understands the importance of parent participation in early childhood swimming lessons.
Can adapt lessons to suit individual children rather than rigidly following a program.
Is curious about why we teach a skill in a particular way, not simply which activity or song comes next.
Enjoys learning, reflecting on their teaching and exploring new approaches.
Is reliable, professional and enjoys working as part of a small team.
Is looking for long term employment.
Above all, we're looking for someone who genuinely loves teaching young children and understands that building water confidence is just as important as developing swimming skills.
Learning the Aquanat Way
Our approach to early childhood swimming has developed over many years, drawing on experience, observation and an understanding of how children learn.
We know that even experienced swimming instructors bring different teaching backgrounds and methods.
That's why every new teacher at Aquanat undertakes a period of observation, mentoring and practical training before teaching independently.
We don't expect you to arrive knowing everything about our approach, but are looking for an individual for whom all this resonates with.
We hope you'll bring experience, curiosity, an open mind and a willingness to learn.
We're happy to invest considerable time and energy in the right person, and we're looking for someone who's equally interested in growing with us.
Looking for a Long-Term Swim Teaching Position in Perth?
This is a casual swimming instructor position with consistent teaching days during school terms.
We're looking for someone who can commit to the same day or days each week and become a familiar, trusted face for our swimmers and families.
Consistency is an important part of our teaching philosophy. When children see the same teacher each week, they have the opportunity to build familiarity, trust and a positive relationship over time.
For this reason, we're looking for someone interested in a long-term teaching role rather than temporary or short-term employment.
If you're an experienced swim teacher looking for a welcoming workplace where you can develop your skills, build meaningful relationships and become part of a close-knit team, Aquanat might be the right fit for you.
